St.Stephen's School

Class RMW

Welcome to Reception!

We have come to school and settled into our classroom and routines very quickly. Our class is RMW and our teacher is Maryjane Winston.

This year we are learning to be independent, to listen and talk to each other, and to show that we have excellent manners. We like to say nice words like ‘Please,’ ‘Thank you’ and ‘Sorry’ because this makes others happy as well as making ourselves feel good. We love coming to school every day in our new, smart school uniform to see our friends and to work hard.

We will be basing our learning around some fantastic and very special books, as well as, on very important events and celebrations throughout the year. Whilst we are learning about each topic, we will be holding workshops and visiting new and interesting places.  We look forward to seeing you there.

During the year we will be developing our skills in all the areas of early development:
In Personal, Social and Emotional Development, where we practise taking turns, getting along and being proud of who we are.
In Physical Development, where we will practise our fine and gross motor skills.
In Communication, Language and Literacy, where we will enjoy sharing stories together and taking part in lots of dramatic role play.
We will also learn our phonic sounds to help us to read and write, and will be using our number skills to help us to count, add and take away.

If you have any questions please come and see us.

Class Charters

Each class at St. Stephen’s Primary School will complete a class charter, outlining agreements for members of the class and duty bearers (adults). All pupils are entitled to receive their rights. This class charter will form the basis of a display in class, be displayed on the class website page and also be used for class disciplinary matters.
